April Fools’ Day
April 1st is a day for practical jokes, and nonsense in general.
So where did this custom originate?
It’s unknown where April Fools’ Day first appeared.
Some sources claim that it has roots in the time of the Roman Empire, when a celebration named Hilaria was observed at the end of March.
Others say that it dates back to the Middle Ages, when the Gregorian calendar replaced the Julian one and people who continued to celebrate the new year in April were ridiculed as fools.
It doesn’t matter where this celebration originated. April 1 has evolved into a humorous celebration all over the world. 🙂

Não se sabe onde o Dia da Mentira apareceu pela primeira vez.
Algumas fontes afirmam que tem raízes na época do Império Romano, quando uma festa chamada Hilaria era realizada no final de março.
Outras dizem que remonta à Idade Média, quando o calendário gregoriano substituiu o calendário juliano e as pessoas que continuaram a celebrar o ano novo em abril foram ridicularizadas como tolas.
Não importa onde esta celebração se originou. O 1º de abril evoluiu para uma celebração bem-humorada em todo o mundo. 🙂
